Is it Spring Yet???

After almost a month of rainy yuck we have experienced a few days of sun and decided we would celebrate spring. We have been taking the rest of the school year slow and doing some fun unit studies while we adjust to our new surroundings.

Field Trip Friday - Frost

Frost is a local doughnut bakery that had gotten rave reviews. Since we are down to only one car now and Daddy needed it to go to work we often find ourselves needing to venture out on foot. There isn't much I would consider a nice "walking distance" but there are things within a few miles. Let me first say, the doughnuts were amazing. Thankfully or this trip would have seemed even more fruitless.

It was the getting there that was the issue. So as you know it rains and rains and rains here this time of year. We asked some neighbors if there was anything in walking distance I could take the kids in the stroller to. I was told "just  through the park" is a shopping center with some quaint shops and a grocery store. Great! So we set off (mind you it is drizzling at the moment but if we don't get out in the rain we would never get out.) down to the park. It is about a 10 min walk to the park and we easily find the trail though to where the shops are said to be. What we haven't been told is that the "trail" is in fact a floating boardwalk. I think, ok, girls stay close I don't want you falling into the swamp. Cause it was…..a swamp. We got a little over half way there and the boardwalk could not hold the weight of us and the stroller so we started to sink. As long as we kept moving at a steady pace we were just getting our shoes and socks and bottom of our pants wet. It was so gross. We finally made it through soaked to the bone and the shopping center was no where to be seen. It was still two miles away!!! Well, I wasn't stopping now and I sure as heck wasn't going back the way I came! We made it to town and went in a couple shops only for me to realize I had somehow lost my wallet.  Really? I was frantically searching for it when the police department called me (they traced me down on Facebook!) to say someone had turned it in. So in the rain we walked to the station. Thankfully nothing was missing. I called Daddy and told him we would be waiting in the local bookstore until he was done with work. Welcome to Washington! Hopefully the rain clears up soon! :/

Field Trip Friday - Disneyland!!!!!

We were not planning on stopping at Disneyland. When I say "we" I mean everyone else. I wanted to go. I NEEDED to go. Maybe for you this seems like a relative need but I have a slight addiction remember? We were driving along and I started seeing signs for Disneyland. I kid you not, full blown panic attack. I have no idea what it is like to fiend for a cigarette or cocaine but I can only imagine it must be a similar feeling. My heart races, my palms sweat. I feel for certain if I can't go then I may very well just fall down and die right then and there. So at first I said…."We can just go have lunch at Downtown Disney, maybe look in a couple shops and then get back on the road."

Oh man, yeah right who am I kidding!! Unlike Disney World where the parks are miles a part I had to walk by the gates of Disneyland to get to Rainforest Cafe. I was in tears, literally. If I had it my way we would have stayed a week or longer (longer) and Disneyed it up like the best of them. I had to use the stop in Tombstone as leverage. I am sure to the normal sane person I would look a little cooky crying and throwing myself at the gates. My kids aren't ashamed of me (yet) so it was all good. We had to choose between Disneyland and California Adventure so of course, I chose the original. I needed a little main street magic in my soul.

Guess where we are!!!

Main Street - My happy place!

Poor Middle E did not want to stop for pictures.

LOVE!!

We had some firsts on this Disney Trip!

First time Little E saw The Tiki Room

First time Big E rode the Matterhorn

First time for the girls on Mr Toads Wild Ride (the one in Disney World closed years ago for Winnie the Pooh)

First time Middle E could ride Space Mountain!!! YAY!!!

And of course we partook in some of our favorite things too!

and classic rides!

It was definitely good to get a tiny dose of Disney. I am counting down the days until our next Disney World trip!!

C-ya real soon!
